In one of the most significant transfers of the year, Colin Labecki has joined Jumbo-Visma after a fruitful five years with Team DSM. Jumbo-Visma enters its first season as a women's World Tour team and its second as a professional. After a successful debut season led by Marianne Vos, the team will be further strengthened by the addition of Labecchi.
To welcome Ravecki's addition, Jumbo-Visma released a photo of Ravecki wearing the official team kit for the first time. In addition to Jumbo-Visma's traditional yellow and black design, Rabecki's collar and sleeves feature the distinctive stars and stripes American flag, a testament to the former national road racing champion, whose victory in the 2018 Elite National Championship is one of 72 titles in her career, one of many accomplishments that already grace Labecchi's palmares.
Armed with a wicked sprint and the ability to survive longer in races than most sprinters, Labecki began her career in the United States, initially balancing a degree in business marketing and racing at Marian University in Indianapolis. She then successfully transferred this talent to the European Women's World Tour.
In 2017, the best year of her career so far, Lavecky won the Tour of Flanders, Trofeo Alfredo Binda, and the RideLondon Classic.
She continued her winning ways in 2018, winning the overall OVO Energy Women's Tour, two stages of the Thuringian Ladies Tour, and a national championship.
But after 2019, Labecki's fortunes waned somewhat: a concussion in August 2020, repeated cramps in races, and a stomach virus ruined her 2020 season. In fact, it was her first non-winning season in six years.
But for Labecchi, who won the final stage of the 2021 Giro d'Italia Donne, this was merely an unusual year. He finished second in the Serratigit Challenge of La Vuelta and seventh in the Tokyo Olympics road race, and his all-winning form in 2017 flickered further.
In Jumbo Visma, Labecki will look to build on these results and form one half of a strong combination with Boss, who has been one of her fiercest rivals to date; the two will target the spring classics and sprints, with Labecki in the leader and support roles alternating roles.
