Niamh Fisher-Black extends her contract with SD Works through 2024.

SD Worx announced Wednesday that it has reached an agreement with up-and-coming talent Niamh Fisher-Black to extend her contract through 2024. Fisher-Black made her debut on the Women's World Tour last year and had a remarkable year, winning the series' highest youth class.

"I enjoyed my first year with Team SD Worx and learned a lot from the experienced riders on the team. Team SD Worx is very successful and I am very happy with that. 2021, I joined the team with no expectations. It was a good learning year. I rode mainly for the team, but I also achieved good results on my own. For example, wearing the leader's jersey at the Vuelta a Burgos was one of my highlights. I think the team helped me to take a big step forward. The fact that I finally won the youth class of the World Tour is a good proof of that. I am happy to continue running with the best women's team in the world."

The 21-year-old from New Zealand is one of several young riders who are developing their talents at SD Works, including Ronneke Uneken, Anna Shackley, and Blanca Kata Vas. Fischer Black said of his development as a rider at SD Worx, "Success breeds success."

Former world champion Anna van der Breggen has retired and moved into the role of sports director at SD Worx. Fischer Black said he looks forward to learning from them as director.

"I think it's really good that they're going to be sporting directors. I've already learned a lot from them and they really know how to race. So having them in the car and mentoring us alongside the racing is really valuable and will make us an even stronger team."

While riders like Demi Vollering and newcomer Lotte Kopecky will take on leadership roles, the team, including coach Danny Stamm, is planning ahead by prioritizing the development of the next generation of riders who will compete for wins on the Women's World Tour.

Last year, Fischer-Black played a supporting role in one-day and mountain races, but also won the youth class at the Vuelta a Burgos, Giro d'Italia Donne, and Ladies Tour of Norway, and finished in the top 10 in races held on the world-class stage

"Nadia is a very talented rider.

"Niamh has shown herself to be one of the biggest talents in the peloton," Stamm said. 'Additionally, she fits in very well with the team. She is trying to get the most out of the team. We are pleased to extend her contract for another two years until the end of 2024 and look forward to great success with Niamh."
