Specialized is now introducing a direct-to-consumer model to its repertoire, offering free "Ship to Home" delivery, as well as a new fee-based "Specialized Delivery" service for bikes over 2,500 pounds. In addition to this, the new service charter will allow online customers to take advantage of warranty service at any Specialized dealer.
Specialized road bikes, along with other products, are still available in brick-and-mortar stores, but the addition of this new way for riders to purchase and receive their bikes should make it even easier for some riders. However, this news may be alarming for independent retailers, who are likely to miss out on sales when Specialized bikes become available for direct purchase
. The new rollout is part of the brand's Pedal the Planet Forward initiative, Specialized's larger plan to make bicycles available to as many people as possible for the environment.
In a statement, Specialized said. "After nearly 50 years of building the perfect bike for every rider, we decided to go a step further and come up with the perfect way to bring the perfect bike to every rider. From your favorite retailer to your home, you can now shop when you want, where you want, how you want. We are excited to announce Ship to Home and Specialized Delivery." These are two new ways to get your new Specialized bike without having to get in your car.
This free service allows customers to have their new bike delivered directly to their doorstep. The bike comes pre-assembled in the box, and the Specialized Rider Care Specialist team is on call to assist if needed. They can also connect you with your local dealer if you need further assistance.
A £75 Specialized Delivery Service is available for bikes over £2,500 (prices and terms vary by country, details to be determined). With this service, not only is the bike delivered directly to the customer's door, but a Specialized technician will deliver the bike, check the bike's size and setup, register the bike, perform basic maintenance, and wait while the customer test rides the bike.
In addition to these, Specialized will introduce Service Charters. This is a new initiative in Specialized's extensive retail network that will allow customers to obtain warranty service at any Specialized dealer. This means that online customers using the new direct sales service will also be able to take advantage of this service. Warranty service will be provided free of charge, and dealers will be charged a labor fee.
