The team withdrew from the competition. The teams have not indicated whether the two cases were caused by riders or staff.

On Friday, the BikeExchange-Jayco team withdrew from the Spanish stage race after two team members tested positive for COVID-19. Movistar also announced that two riders (Juli Holman and Inel Rubio) had withdrawn from the race due to positive tests, while others continued racing.

Team DSM announced that due to three positive COVID-19 tests within the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana group, after close consultation with the race organizers, they chose to withdraw from the race in accordance with UCI regulations.

Their team member reportedly "developed a mild complaint in the morning and is now in isolation," and the team was reminded to follow local government advice and regulations.

Jumbo Visma, which competed in the Volta Valenciana, included Sam Omen, Eduardo Affini, and Milan Verder. The Dutch team was forced to cancel its training camp in Alicante in early January. Similar tests also identified this positive case.

"The possibility of further positive cases cannot be ruled out, so we have taken this decision to protect the team inside and outside," explained Jumbo Visma when he announced his withdrawal from Volta a la Comunita Valenciana.

"Three days before the start, every member of the team, both players and staff, underwent a daily corona test so that we could take appropriate action for everyone's health. Additionally, compartments were used whenever possible to limit the number of so-called close calls.

"Infected team members went into isolation, close contacts were quarantined, and the rest went home.
