21-year-old Shari Bossuit hopes to further develop as a cyclist in the Canyon-SRAM setup before her first season with the Women's WorldTour team.
"For me, it's a dream to be on this team with these girls and I want to learn so much from them. I'm really happy to be here. You don't learn a lot in training, but I think you learn a lot in the race, like how to eat and when to eat."
Bozito joins Canyon-SRAM Racing from NXTG Racing, the development team she raced for the past two seasons. In this environment, she has had a string of results that show her potential, including the U23 Belgian National Time Trial Champion, 7th overall in the Lotto Belgium Tour, and 8th overall in the U23 European Championship Road Race.
"After two years with NXTG, I was able to step up to a WorldTour team. To be on a professional team with these girls is a big change for me."
Looking ahead to the upcoming Classic season, Bossuit is looking forward to participating in smaller races.
"I'm going to do a lot of smaller races, not big races. It's good for me to grow in the peloton and develop as a person and as a rider.
When she takes part in the big races, Bossuy supports her teammates' hopes of winning.
"I want to show myself in these races. I attack, I work hard for the other racers, and I run small races for myself."
Along with her road racing, Bossuite is also active on the track, winning silver in the points race at the 2021 European Track Championships and placing eighth in Madison at the 2021 World Track Championships. She plans to balance both disciplines again this season.
"I usually plan to do track and road, so that was a no-brainer for Canyon and a reason to sign on. 'I want to do a lot of road racing, but I also want to do some track racing. Hopefully that will work out. I think it will be a good balance because it's a good program, both track and team."
