Jenyes sentenced to 4 months probation for domestic violence

Total Energy rider Alexandre Jenyes received a four-month suspended sentence for domestic violence against his ex-wife.

Rodez prosecutors had requested a six-month suspended sentence for the 33-year-old Frenchman. Geniees attended the hearing in Rodez where the sentence was handed down.

Geniez's ex-wife, Lucie Garrigues, reported the violence to Rodez police last November, accusing him of physical abuse dating back to February 2020.

At a court hearing in January, Garrigues said that on November 7 Garrigues threw a cell phone at her and said: "You know what happens. "The November 17 assault left Garrigues with a hematoma on her forehead, which forced her to miss a day of work afterward.

Garrigues said, "What would have happened to me if my daughter had not been in the hallway when he took my arm," and her sister testified as a witness in support of her claim.

Jenyes denied that he had physically assaulted Garrigues, and his attorney stated, "I recognize the threats, but I dispute the physical violence." To the contrary, audio recordings of Jenies' threats and Garrigues' screams were used as evidence against him.

Jenyes, who is set to retire at the end of this season, continued to race while the trial continued. Last month he took part in the Tour of Saudi Arabia, finishing eighth overall, and won two stages at the Tour de Rwanda.
