Trofeo Alfredo Binda "Spring World Championships" Route Announced

The Trofeo Alfredo Binda has been held 23 times and has been part of the UCI Women's World Tour since 2016, making it one of the most important races on the women's race calendar.

Its route has been confirmed to be the same as last year's course, with opportunities for victory from both solo attacks and group sprints. In fact, various riders have won the Trofeo Alfredo Binda in recent years.

Last year, for example, Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek-Segafredo) launched a long-distance attack and rode solo for the last 25 km.

The peloton runs 143 km through the hills of Lombardy from Cocchio-Trevisago to Cittiglio. The first section of the course consists of two 7 km loops through Orginacio and Besozzo. Then, after the climbs of Grantola and Brinzio, the course enters a final loop of four laps.

"Women's cycling has grown a lot. This year alone, a lot has been accomplished," Italian national coach Paolo Sangalli said in a press release. Indeed, the Trofeo Binda is now the "Spring World Championships." We have only seen this kind of organization in the Olympics, World Cups, and European Championships."

Alongside the elite races, the junior races have been held for the past nine years and are a reliable indicator of the sport's future stars, as Marta Bastianelli (UAE Team ADQ) and Lorena Vives (Team DSM) have won

The junior peloton also finishes in Cittiglio.

The elite race will feature 24 teams, including 12 World Tour teams. The junior race, on the other hand, will feature several national teams in addition to development teams such as NXTG Racing and Valcar-Travel & Service.

"The Mini Trofeo Binda will be a small world championship with 13 national teams on the starting line," Mario Minervino, president of Cycling Sports Promotion, which organizes the race, said in a press release.

"Unfortunately, we do not yet know if the public will be allowed to participate or if there will be any other restrictions. We want the general public to participate as well as the children and side events that are the hallmark of the Trofeo Binda."
