Pedersen, Steuben, and Simmons Lead Trek-Segafredo's Tour de France Lineup

Trek-Segafredo has announced the eight riders who will compete in the Tour de France. The eight riders, Quinn Simmons, Mads Pedersen, Jasper Steiven, Bauke Mollema, Giulio Ciccone, and Toms Skjajņš, have been dubbed the "Vikings of Victory" by the US-registered World Tour team.

Trek-Segafredo will be aiming for a stage win rather than overall victory, and the early stages in Denmark and northern France will be the target for classics such as Pedersen, Steuben, and Simons. A good result in the time trial in Copenhagen on Friday could earn Pedersen the yellow jersey.

Mollema and Ciccone will be aiming for the mountain stages, while Skžiņš will excel in the hills. Luxembourg's Alex Kirsch will make his Tour de France debut at age 30, and Frenchman Tony Gallopin will complete the eight-rider roster.

"The big goal is to win at least one stage, but with this group I think we can do more than that," said Kim Andersen.

"For the team and for Mads, the clear goal is to get a stage in Denmark. First we'll try the Super Time Trial in Copenhagen, and if we can get our hands on the yellow jersey, we'll get bonus seconds. [There are two big riders on the cobbled fifth stage: Jasper and Mads. And there are smart riders who know how to win from this position."

Pedersen finished fourth in the Danish national time trial championships and second in the road race championships.

Quinn Simmons made his Tour de France debut at just 21 years old. A former junior world champion, he attacked several times in the Tour de Suisse to win the mountains prize.
